Oil Filter Hits Exhaust on 1100evo

I just changed my oil & filter on my 2013 1100 evo.  I used a K&N 153 vs the stock and it was a PITA.  I literally had to loosen the exhaust header supports and pull the pipes outward as the filter would not line up with the threads properly otherwise.  Even after screwing the filter completely in and re-tightening the exhaust supports, the filter touches the exhaust header.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I suppose I can play around with the exhaust and try to shim it out a bit but I hate the idea of putting stress into the pipes so close to them attaching to the engine. Otherwise I can go back to just using the shorter OEM filters (although even they hit while being unscrewed.) Just when you think Ducati got it all right....ha!

Its tight squeeze on mine but it fits fine. i use a hi flo instead. Same as k&n but without the nut.

I did have to make sure it wasnt hitting so it was close.

Stock filter fits just fine.

I'm guessing that ought to count as getting it right?  ;D

Alright, back to the bargain-priced OEM filters.  So that its "right".  [bow_down]

Hi-Flo is EXACTLY the same as K&N. They make them for K&N. They have the same part number as K&N

KN-153 = HF-153

I don't see why you would have to go "back" to anything? I actually just hit 12k miles on my bike, I'll see if I can go buy one next weekend and fit it up.

If it makes you feel any better, the Termi full system front header on my M1100s directly obstructs the sump drain plug  [bang] [laugh]

Oil change?  Remove the header pipe  [laugh]
