I did the the 748 Fork conversion on my 2006 S2R 800 about a year ago.

Now I have come across some 848 forks.

Are they the same tube diameter, ie 53mm/53mm?

I would have to get radial calipers of course.
But I have goldine 4 piston calipers now.
Can I keep the 320mm diameter, 10mm offset rotors that I have on there?

So could I swap out for 848 Rotors then?

Or add a spacer to the rotor mounts?

Raux

you probably have 6 bolt wheels
so you'll need one of two options

spacers
or
6 bolt 15mm offset rotors

I use the latter

nicholasv

Where did you get the rotors from?

Is there a bike that comes with that config stock in order find a source?

Is there a known place to find a spacer?

Raux

748r can't remember the year
braking are the brand i have

i think motoaheels has the spacers

nicholasv

I found the spacers.

BrakeTech makes them and Ca-CycleWorks sells them for ~$30 each.

That seems like the easiest thing.

848/1098/1198 forks and calipers, is what I mean . . .

Reviving this thread, as it's hard to find a complete and definitive answer (at least is has been for me).

In order to swap 848 forks into an S2R 800 - you need to do the following, correct?

Bore the top triple to 53mm
Shim the lower triple to 53mm
I already have radial Gold Line Calipers and 320mm rotors - do that calipers need to be changed, or can I change the caliper carrier?
Get 15mm of spacers
Same axle

What else?

You could either go the bore/shim route or get a complete triple for that conversion from one of our sponsors . . . but, if you are using the 848 forks you will have to use the radial calipers, if the forks didn't have them, you need to get them . . .

S2R wheel has 25mm/6hole axle/rotors with 10mm offset . . . 848 has 30mm/5hole axle/offset . . . this is why I ask you to try the X96/1100 calipers with your OEM wheel/rotor . . you will not be able to use the Goldline calipers with those forks[axial mount vs radial mount]

Here, http://www.ebay.com/itm/0948-2012-12-Ducati-Monster-796-Brembo-Front-Brake-Calipers-/291557297448?hash=item43e22b4d28&vxp=mtr these are the ones you will need and might not need the spacers if you are using your OEM wheel

now, if you have the 848 wheel with 5 hole rotors and NO calipers, these could fit, http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-10-11-12-Ducati-Hypermotard-796-1100-Brembo-Front-Calipers-Pads-Lines-B203-/301673133847?hash=item463d1eb717&vxp=mtr

or for better fit, IF you have the 848 wheel/rotor, http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Ducati-1098-848-1198-1098S-Brembo-Monobloc-Front-Calipers-Pads-Lines-A353-/281538173594?fits=Make%3ADucati%7CModel%3A848&hash=item418cfb9a9a&vxp=mtr
