Fluctuating idle and TPS relation?

Hi All,

I've been having various recurring problems with my 2006 S2R 1000 (19K miles); I've managed to improve things to some extent, but here is a summary of the symptoms in the background:

- Stalling out randomly;
- occasionally/randomly a loud buzzing from either the main or ignition relay when key is turned to "ON" position (probably due to insufficient voltage reaching the relay);
- fluctuating idle - idle cycles up and down between approximately 800 to 1900++ RPM;
- unable to maintain idle level manually - when I turn throttle at smaller openings, I can't maintain steady idle, the tach just drops back down;
- AND, when I hook up TuneECU, I sometimes notice the TPS voltage reading fluctuates - at one point it went up and down from 0.5 all the way up to 8 (could not duplicate this at other points, however).

Now, clearly I have an electrical issue/gremlin, and I'm doing my best to, step-by-step, track it down - it's either a component or wiring issue, etc.

I've checked and cleaned up some wiring, connections, fuses, I've secured/cleaned grounds, etc. etc. ... but no luck so far. I'm beginning to suspect the TPS is faulty.

QUESTION: Most recently, I unplugged/disconnected the TPS and started up the bike ... the result was a steady (non-fluctuating) idle. Does this actually confirm the TPS is the issue? Does it at least make it more likely this is the problem?

Many thanks!
