Oil fill plug smells like gasoline?

This is on a 2008 S2R1000, I was smelling the oil, just smelling the oil fill plug, and noticed a sort of gasoline smell. I had a buddy of mine check it, too, just to make sure.

Is this a big bad thing? It was immediately following a short ride across town. bike has 8400 miles on it.

Not sure what to be concerned about here. Anyone know about this?

The oil should not smell like gasoline, though it could after a lot of short trips.  Does it look like the oil level has increased?  Does the bike start quickly after sitting?  How does the bike run?  Spark plug color normal?  In the meanwhile, change the oil and filter and see if the smell returns.  If not and the bike runs well,
