Tachometer troubleshooting help????

Got a 99 m900 with the led dp tach. Well sometimes is work other times it just does like a sweeping motion, then sometimes nothing. No matter what it always does at least light up lol Any ideas on things to look for that might cause this?? Tried doing some research but didn't really find anything helpful. Haven't really dig into the problem yet it's just on a long list of things to get done over the winter

Other than checking connections not much.  Those tachs rarely worked well, if at all.

Yea that's kinda what I've found thru my research. But I've got the bike apart taking care of major maintenance and installing a bunch of new parts. So I checked the connects and will see how everything works when it gets back together

Don't be too optimistic.

The 900 just pulls like a tractor anyway. You don't really need a tach
