Bought a used DP ECU for my 2005 S4R.  Bike would turn over but not start.  Sent the ECU to SOS Diagonistics to have it un-linked.  Bike will turn over but still does not start.  Any ideas?

If the engine turns over it is not an immobilizer problem.  Can you hear the fuel pump prime?  Fuel reasonably fresh?  Internal fuel hoses not leaking?  Got fuel pressure?  Got spark?

Derekv

It runs normally with the standard ECU.

Apparently the problem is in the ECU.  Easiest solution might be to have your standard ECU flashed with the DP program.  At the same time you might consider killing the immobilizer.  The blinking light will still work.

Did you connect the ECU's ground cable? Did you disconnectes Negative first? Did you connect Positive first?

When you say it starts with regular ECU, before or after DP ECU was installed/un-installed?

And, what howie said might/could/will be, BEST solution, some of our sponsors do that.

I installed the DP ECU.  It would crank but not start.  i was advised that it could be linked to previous bike.  I sent it to SOS Diagonistics to be unlinked. Still doesn't start with DP ECU.  Put original ECU back in and it runs normally.

The ground cable is attached correctly.

Clearly there is an issue with the DP ECU.

I was just asking . . . In my first ECU replacement, I forgot the little cable . . .

Is your bike completely OEM? No AM brake or clutch masters?

Could you post a pic of said ECU, from both sides? And one from the top . . . For some reason it could be that if not an OEM DP-ECU and was reflashed for S4R-T which is a different engine engine alltogether.

Or, they took and older IAW59M with NO PIN33 . . .

Dunno, just a few ideas . . .

Will do, thanks.  No dumb questions.

SOS diagnostics unlinked the ecu. Still didn't work. They recommended going through the key id process with the black and red keys. Still didn't work. Sent the ecu and gauge cluster back to SOS.  There was an issue with the cluster. They fixed it and shipped it back. As soon as I get back in country I'll throw the ecu and gauges on and see what happens!!!

Got it put back together today.  Started right up.  Weather was nice enough for a test ride.  Smoother and more power.  Perfect.
