Turns out the side case was leaking. Removed, cleaned, resealed, new oil.

Isn't the r/h side case below the layshaft and the seal behind the belt cover?

Leak was coming from behind this bolt:

2005 S2R800
2006 S2R1000
2015 Monster 821
