Re-installed the drain plug to the gas tank and I'm still getting leaks. Didn't want to over tighten. Did not use teflon tape or anything else on the threads.

Poured in some gas and forgot the drain plug initially. Had some masking tape plugging hole, pulled it (gas pouring out  :-[ ) and installed drain plug.

Any suggestions to stop this slow leak?

I use Stag Sealant paste. It's the only petrol proof sealant I have found that seals gasket-less mating surfaces in carbs. Run some on the alloy gasket/washer under the drain bolt, it should have one.
