Hey there! Long time lurker but I'm still really new to Ducati maintenance and bikes in general.
I apologize if this is long and wordy but would like to try and cover my bases hoping someone will make an obvious connection that I (or the bike  [laugh] ) clearly are not.

Bike Info:
2001 Ducati Monster 900 i.e.
14k Miles

Symptoms:
(1) Bike was fine, commuted 25mi to work. Bike stalled upon parking and assumed user error.
(2) Go to leave for home, bike started up fine, after letting it warm up for a minute dies on the spot and won't come back on.
(3) Fuel Pump isn't priming and starter button won't attempt to crank engine.
(4) While rolling the bike down parking garage ramp heard pump prime - tried to start and it did for ~2 sec before immediately dying back out.

Other Noteworthy Info:
- Changed oil the other day and the bike did sputter a few times while at low low speeds (coming off of stop lights etc)
I assumed I might have knocked a connection somewhere loose, because I checked that they were all tight and had no sputtering after that.

- I have had the bike stall on me in the past because the starter button somehow got stuck / in.

- Headlamp / tails / cluster all light up fine, battery is holding a 13 volts without wavering, fuses are all clean / none blown.

Now after searching around, the sputtering out and no priming of the fuel pump would lead me to think fuel pump or the wiring to it that is notorious for failure is the issue... but wouldn't the starter still try and crank the bike over instead of doing absolutely nothing? I would greatly appreciate any ideas or guidance you could provide in my direction. I've been searching around and will continue trying everything I can. Thank you in advance!

My guess would be the battery is toast. Despite the voltage readings you get that make you think it's OK, that's what batteries routinely do. They take a dump and make you think they're just fine when they're not. Take it and have it fully load tested and there's other methods of testing that reveal the battery's true condition other than just checking the voltage. I think you will likely find it has perished. And do ensure the engine ground contact point is snug and secure and making good contact.

@Booger - I have been reading around and that's exactly where I was thinking of investigating next, after seeing people say that voltage doesn't mean CCA still exist etc.

I really appreciate the help, I'll reply back with my findings.

Side stand switch?  Try bypassing it.  Green and black wire.

Solved! I was talking with a good friend who's a mechanic, and just needed to walk through the symptoms with someone until it "clicked!"

I was talking with him, and as stated in original post realized... the pump isn't priming and I can't turn the bike over... its as if it doesn't know the kill switch is disengaged.
That made me realize "I should check the wiring to the kill switch" and sure enough I found a break in the line, as soon as I touched the two frayed wires together, fuel pump primes and I can start the bike. Let it go, bike shuts off.

PROBLEM:
Was a wire that got frayed and broken to my kill switch.

Thank you again for the help!
