IME anything less than 3/4" pin will bend on an under-triple stand

You may very well be correct, but T-rex sells a 12 mm pin.

12mm is close to 1/2”
8mm is less then 3/8”
It will not be strong by any means,
Not sure how much the pin is used for,lift as is stability
Will trade toilet paper for parts

I made a pin from a 12mm or 1/2" bolt, cant remember which.
It bent.
Not a 12.9 or grade 8 bolt, but not crapola.

That, I think I would very away from. Things are made a way for a reason.
Hmmmmm......... paddock stand I want vs life, that is a hard one
Will trade toilet paper for parts

The Ducati stem has a big honking hole, and it's perfectly safe.

Get a pin turned out of cold rolled steel and post photos of results!

I had to do the same thing for my previous S2R (don't have a new triple tree stand yet).  Worked out well!  Granted, I was going bigger instead of smaller....drew it up in Fusion 360 and had a friend of my father in law fab it.

I was actually thinking titanium
I think anything that's not cast might work

Keep in mind the stress on the pin is on the way up and down.  Speeddog's 12mm. bent and 8mm. is a lot smaller.

Also consider cast is much weaker then rolled, titanium has higher stress values
Honestly if you consider using a valve, nipping it off and drill out a receiver
I have used a valve out of a 350 to adjust coil over compression on off road truck on the trail

Here's my 2 cents since I use the last front lift in your original post; the pin question aside, I've used the lower section with a 1/2" dia. x 2' piece of solid mild steel rod through the front wheel spindle and same way on the rear SSS also for more stability; is doesn't allow for wheel work like that; but is more stable than the pin.

With the pin its less stable, and note; the stand can rotate if you not watching it all the time; as it did on me once, while I was working on the front breaks; I caught it as she went over on top of me; but had momentum and weight as it went down gently on top of me got a little pinned and squished and wrenched my back trying to stop it. I believe they recommend using a back stand to help stabilize and I have used the same rod with jack stands on the rear and front triple pinned. Also its nice that with the pin you can remove the front wheel.

I think the under triple stands for the bikes with adjustable steering stems hooks the lower triple.
