2005 Monster S2R 800 Arrow Exhaust - Opened Airbox and Installed a PC3 but it hasnt been fueling properly and idles low about 800rpm. Took it to get Dyno'd thinking tha twould fix things and the Dyno guy couldnt get the fueling right or the idle up and noticed that the PC III connector on the left side injector wiggles while the right side is pretty firm. Upon further inspection we noticed the clip was missing that holds the connector in place. Took it home and removed the airbox completely to see what's doing. Although the clip is missing it does appear that the two male flat male pins in the grey connector attached to the fuel injector were certainly mated with the PC III connector.  After removing the PC3 connector I noticed that the grey connector attached to the fuel injector on the left side does wiggle up and down where as the connector on the right side is pretty stable and firm when you try and wiggle it. I tried running the bike and wiggling it to see if the idle would fluctuate when it's wiggled but nothing changed. I'm worried the grey male connector built on to the fuel injector may have been broken during the PC3 install which is why it wiggles and this is causing the problem but I'm not certain. Am I on the right track here? The only other piece of the PCIII install I would question is the wire tap could that be the culprit here? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Disconnecting the PCIII and fitting a stock lid will tell.

Not an expert, but if the wire tap is loose, the PC3 should be dark/flickering. That wouldn't be too great....

This is true, you don't want an intermittent connection. Maybe a moto or auto shop has a wire retainer in a box of bits?

I fixed the wiretap, I replaced the fule injectors with a pair from a lower mileage S2R and I'm replacing the fuel filter with a new one today. Hopefully this fixes the issue.

Were the injectors sonic cleaned before installation? I should have mentioned it but was focussed on the connector issue? If not, run some injector cleaner through the first few tank fulls.

They were not sonic cleaned I bought them still attached to a throttle body set removed them and used those to replace both of mine (one was not working). It's like night and day now so that was definitely the problem. I can run injector cleaner but I've heard mixed reviews on those cleaning solutions, do they work?
Now I'm on the fence about changing the fuel filter. I bought one and have it on hand but I've read some write ups and comments here where some folks had problems replacing the fuel filter and others that made it sound super easy. The bike is running great now so I'm wary to mess with it but it's at 26k miles so it's probably due. Just hate fixing what's not broken as that can cause more problems sometimes. hmmmmm...  ???

Ride and enjoy [thumbsup]

IME some injector cleaners are snake oil but some work well.  I dont know what the trusted brands are in your country.  I go for Penrite and Nulon down here.

A spray pattern matched pair of sonic cleaned injectors is best. It's one reason I go for individual cylinder mapping on a big twin during a dyno tune. Two perfectly new injectors could vary in flow rates that would surprise you, then there's individual cylinder head requirements. Chris at CCW was selling flow matched injectors.

My Evo is very smooth partially due to individual mapping.

The Vet taught me, long ago, that a high pressure system suffers much more from a dirty filter than a low pressure system.

It's just not a big deal to change it every couple years.. [thumbsup]
