Reading about shortage of FCR`s, came to think of my old mod in 2006.

Saw some IL4 FCR quite cheap on the bay, thought "Separating them and make a pair, how hard could it be?"
Famous last words... Buying from a Kwak a set for 450$, sold 2 for 200, but beware of Keihin spares, expensive.

Not so hard to do, actually. Most is obvious from photos, tubes etc.

Some fiddling:
Had one end carb and one middle, had to shut fuel delivery on that, screw and 24h Araldit fixed that.
Throttle axle, "Hmmm, where can I find that?". Answer: Local hardware store had it! "Mustn`t it be perfectly straight and smooth?"
Don't think so, just moves 1/3 rotation, not so sensitive. Seals for it,  l live in SKF hometown, their store has everything you need!
Throttle cables linkage, McGyvering in the shed, not pretty but works!

So, go and get them, Tony!  Wink

Good work Gert! Handy living in SKF Town Grin

I recently got a set from Mukeido. Very expensive but still a grand cheaper than new.

I was using two dirt bike FCRs and ran them with a 2 into 1 throttle, but the throttle pull was giving my arthritis (and other joint condition) hell . I recently sold them.

Yeah, nice work there Tony.

Main problem w IL4 FCR is that you don't get the correct throttle plates but it doesn't seem to trouble Ducs too much.
If they had the EMT needles l don't remember.

My dirt bike FCRs had leaner slide cutaways so I ran 62.5 pilot jets, the largest I've used, but boy it ran well. Carbs had very unknown needles to me but I had EMT and EMS needles spare. SAJ 11/2 turns, EMT needle #5, 155 mains, IMS 2 turns out. Fuel economy was over 320kms per tank for a thrashed 750. With K&N pods.

My CV carbs are 42.5 pilots, DJ needle #3, Factory Pro springs, IMS 4, 140 main jets. K&N pods. Quick turn single cable throttle. Fuel use is about 270kms per tank. I might try 40 pilots and needle #4 when they come off the bike.

I will try the "new" Ducati FCRs with 60 pilot jets, EMT  needles #5,  SAJ 11/2 turns, 155 main jets and IMS 11/2 turns. K&N pods. I have a "Tokyo Mods" light spring to try too. I'll use quick a turn push/pull throttle to take the pressure off my arthritic wrist. If I dont like how they feel I'll sell them. Smiley
