Hard to believe the 916 was released 30 years ago. The bike still looks right and still looks contemporary and still looks sexy. It is still a capable tool on the road. Read this story by one of the members of the press who was there about what the launch was like back in 1994. Of course being 6'2" it is not a very comfortable to ride for over 30 minutes if that. But I have thrown a leg over one and I rode it a lot more than 30 minutes and I felt like a million but probably rode it like a novice.
