bluetooth transmitters? (not A2DP)

So... I'm looking into bluetooth transmitters (3.5mm jack to BT 1.2). I DON'T want A2DP. So... if it's not A2DP, what is it? What's the name for the old, mono protocol?
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
