Apple can remove things from your phone remotely.  Imagine if someone else got into all the iphones.....

yeah, they (i.e., jobs) fessed up to it.

the alternative being a virus scanner that updates.... pretty much same functionality with lots more overhead.

i guess another scenario would be a malicious app compromising multiple iphones and everybody looking at apple and saying "why the hell can't you stop this?"

it seems they're very aware of the fact that it's a function not to be taken lightly.
