I've read about/met more gay people living in northwest Wyoming than the SF/Monterey bay area where I came from.

When I moved up here all the rednecks were pissed off about that movie.

"There's no such thing as a gay cowboy".   laughingdp

Amazing how many "cowboys" that love the cock.

Thanks everyone for the comments/suggestions.  (ADG -- not sure what your issue is with East Bay, but it looks like you've moved on, so I hope you like the place where you are now better!  waytogo)  Ended up doing a Newbies group ride from Castro Valley north to the Wall on Sat. Met some cool people and had zero issues on the ride. Spent time riding on my own on Redwood and Pinehurst Sunday morning. At this point, can't get enough [moto] so any other ideas for great rides in this area, let me know!

Berkeley is full of filthy, dirty, jobless hippies who insist on trying to "expand my mind" whenever I go through there looking for a decent cuppa.

That's like < 1%.  (Which, granted, is about 1,400 people to avoid).

It's full of plenty of educated liberal foodie elitists too.   Cheesy

Really, it's a pretty damn nice place overall.
