I'm going to Dublin for a couple of days. Anyone know a good resturant in the city center near the Guiness storehouse? Normally I'm quite open to the local food, but in Ireland I'm not too sure :-\.

Local food is pub food and Fish & chip-shops you shouldn't have a problem finding either.

Did you have a type of restaurant in mind?

I was just in Dublin in May and there were plenty of good places to eat.  I don't remember a particular restaurant, but there are alot to choose from in the Temple Bar area. Ireland has gotten a bad rap for food, but I didn't have anything I didn't like! [drink]  I do have some friends there...I could probably find out for you...

Two - One is a tourist trap but is sooooo worth it - Gogarty's

The other is the Lobster Pot. Expensive but very nice. Near the US Embassy. Dress up place. Doors are locked, you have to ring the doorbell. Wierd but fun.

All of Temple bar is a tourist trap.
Its worth going there for a couple of pints just to give it a look see.
But if you cross the Liffey and just start zigg zagging the side streets you'll find a nice place.

If you head up O'Connell street turn right on Mount Joy (3rd or 4th street up) and go about a block on your right hand side there is a small pub called the Berkly, they do a great pint.

I doubt you will find it in a guide book.
Next door is Paskels fish and chips try the garlic mushrooms.

I lived right around the corner from there they used to be my local pub/chippy.

Neither are a good restaurant but both are great places... at least were.
