as one of the typical "fat americans" this does bother me.  i HAVE NEVER asked for anything free (except food) based solely on the fact that im fat.

i hate people that ask for free shit for no reason.

i cant say that i wouldnt like the second seat though.  i remember the seats being too small for me when i was younger and lighter and smaller before i was an above average sized person.

I say the seats are too small period. They have us jammed in there like sardines.

www.seatguru.com  gives the exact seat widths for all airlines / planes and classes.

Smallest is 17.8" (economy class seat) on a regular jet and 17.2" wide on a regional jet (like the CRJ jets)

i think the airline seat is a good measure of your health. if your ass fits but your sides hang over, it's time to put down the spoon.
