I've heard the 696's performance and over all handling is superior to the older monsters...

The 696 has impressive power and terrifying suspension. It's not bad once you get used to it. The terrified part, that is...

Raux

the stock components are of similar quality as the old non-adjustable products from previous gens.
the forks... upgrades had issues like the old marzocchis had as in can't upgrade internally... that's changed since first release
the rear... an Ohlins was available from the start

like i said before... the package was a better handling package compared to a similar equiped prev-gen Monster

Lol.. I do get a little nervous about 'ol Gabor.. He doesn't seem to know too much about the bike.  The 796's are going to be quite above my price range, and I'd like to cap out at 8k..  I've heard the 696's performance and over all handling is superior to the older monsters, I don't really freak out about how it looks, I like the riding experience..

I live in South Florida.. :) Riding season is starting.. So the money is burning a hole in my pocket, and the sun is shining..   So if I'm trying to pull the trigger on something in the next 30 days, I don't know what better deals I'll find.

Hey - get your bike, and come post in the DOCSF section - there's a few of us so-fla monster owners who get together to ride sometimes ;-)

The full termi on the dark 696 tips the scales. I got my bike off ebay, and have nothing but good things to say about it. Mostly, because I got in touch with the seller and had a nice hour long conversation. Make sure there is 'buyer protection' on the bike (you don't pay anything for this - it's related to the seller's reputation) - it will cover losses if the bike never shows up or is materially misrepresented. Also make sure to pay via paypal or some other method that you can track and cancel if need be.

Mine came with the termi slips and racing ECU. I LOVE the sound and grunt. 2,500 miles isn't a lot at all.

Raux I don't doubt you one bit. However your bike is a little bit more than slightly modded.

I think was a compliment to my bike :D Thanks
