Help with clipons for s2r 800.

I recently purchased a set of speedymoto clip ons for my s2r800.  They do not fit because they hit the headlight mounting bracket.  Looks like i should have did some more research here cause i have read post of this problem being a popular one.  Guess i shouldn't have trusted the item description from where i bought them from.  Does anyone have a quick fix or know of a cheap pair that will fit as just a bolt on mod.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Anyone Run the apex clip ons from monster parts.  I'm hoping these would work only 90 after droppin nearly 200 on something that doesn't.  and if anyone is interested i would be willing to part with my new speedymoto ones for next to nothing.  Thank you.

Just what hits the headlight bracket, the clamp itself or something else?.
Usually its the brake hoses that cause problems and if the clip ons are low I'd actually recommend new ones,that way you can route them easier.
The other thing to consider is to drop your headlight and clocks to match your clip on look.

The clip ons have a hinge on them so they can be fitted without removing the top triple.  the hinge is kind of big and hits the headlight mounting bracket.  sorry i dont have a digital camera or i would take a picture of the interference.

You will end up spending money to get it to work, at least that is the only way i know how.  You can lower your headlights or you can buy aftermarket forks that are longer than stock.  This way, the longer forks are exposed above the triple and mount the clipons on above the triple clamp.

I ended up lowering my headlight and buying a whole new set of clipons off of ebay.  The clipons that i bought off ebay were cycle cat with a new triple clamp and adapters that allow you to mount the clipons on top of the triple. Unfortunately, cycle cat is out of business and I got really lucky finding what i found.

I had the same problem with mine.  Had to cut and re-weld stuff to get them to work. Apparently Speedymoto has a monster specific clipon to fix this problem.  If you are stuck with the clipons send me a pm, I am looking for a spare set for my race bike.

If you want details on how to make them work I can walk you through that too.  I hope you are good at welding...

Take a look at the Swatt clipons. They're not too bad at $130 or so a set, and DMF member stopintime got them to work on his S2R800.

Everyone thank you for the help and offers to trade or buy them.  After looking up the headlight lowering mods on this I think i'm going to go that route.  I really dig how it gives it that low sleek cafe racer look.  As for the welding i am not good.  A friends father was giving me a crash course on welding in an hour one day in his garage.  He was welding a cat on my car for me.  I was practicing welding on the bench and thought i did alright for my first time until i realized i welded through the scrap i was working on and welded it to the bench.  It was harder than it looked.  Hope i can talk him into helping me with this project too.  I better show up with a case of beer aahhhh make it two this time.

I lowered the bracket myself with a Lincoln welder i bought at the home depot.  I went to my local Lincoln supplier to get the right stuff to weld aluminum.  My bracket was aluminum so dont go welding your bracket without making sure what kind of metal it is.

good luck and you may need new brake lines.  even with the brackets lowered, your hand controls and brake lines may have some fitment issues.  This was the case when i did my mod but with a lot of tinkering, i was able to make it work with what i had.  Take this into consideration.

Dont lower your brackets too low.  Reason being is that if you were to bottom out your forks (and if you have stock forks and weigh more than 160, as that is the weight the stock forks are for the most part set to) it is not that hard to bottom out your forks.  Also, you may have to consider rather or not you want to have your gauges/odo/tach below the triple or in the stock location.

If you are going to just lower the bracket assembly, you dont have to worry about any other mods to have the clusters attached to your bike.  When i did my lowered bracket mod, i also cut a little over an inch on top of the U bar so that i could fit the cluster under the triple. 

If you are going to keep your front fairing on, you may have to consider rather or not you want to put the gauges below the triple or not.  Im not sure/remember if this was a reason why i went ahead and did the extra work to lower the gauges (other than cosmetically, i like them under the triple).  That is all i can think of at the moment
