Wow, that looks like its coming along.  I almost bought a 71 coupe but decided against it.  I have a pristine 914 that could be used as a daily driver but it mostly just sits in the garage.

Here ya go, couple of pics.

Engine bay, a little bit dirty right now.  This is a 2 liter that replaced the factory 1.8.  It has been balanced from the cooling fan all the way to the clutch pressure plate as a complete assembly.  It has a lightend flywheel, big bore kit with flat top pistons bringing it to approximatly 2.1 liters, 3/4 duration camshaft (290 degrees), 44 webers and a few more things.  Its quite fun even though I never wanted this car.  All work done by me except the paint which I had done.

Nice 914! I hear that they handle better than the 911. This is my first 911. I wanted one to drive, but after I bought this car the value has gone out of sight. I've only driven it probably less than 3,000 miles in the last five years. I've seen a few of these early soft windows go for 110-150K. Hopefully this will help fianance my future motorcycle habit!

A mid engine will always out handle a rear engine. It is a sub 2000 pound go cart and is quite a bit of fun. I have always hated these cars never even considered owning one untill this one literally fell in my lap and it was too good to pass up. I am in San Antonio and this car has been a Texas car its whole life so there was not one spot of rust on it anywhere which is very rare for that vintage. I drove it for a year until it shot out a spark plug on my way home from work. At that time I decided it was time to build up the fresh 2 liter I aquired. I JB welded the plug back into the head so I could drive it to work and then started the tear down. With the motor out I sent it down the hill to our body shop and they did a complete bare metal repaint on it including the engine bay. While it was being painted I had plenty of time to build the new engine. This is how it sits two years later although I don't drive it. I'm thinking about setting it up for autocross so it can have some fun.

That is looking good.  [thumbsup]

A bunch of friends in high school drove 914's.  I would love to become caretaker of a 916.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.
