I bought mine at an Apple store and got a free Canon Printer, but no real discount.

Apple.com during Black Friday using a Federal employee program is cheaper than the base exchange.

The best you can get is about $50 off. Educators and students get a discount. Apple hardware is notoriously expensive, but is exceptionally well built.

I bought my macbook at the apple store, but as a teacher I got it tax free (an Ohio thing), plus a free printer/scanner and a free ipod nano.

That might mean something new is about to come out. 8 times out of 10, that's the standard move. Release will be at MacWorld SF in mid Feb. if it's happening.

Live in Oregon and have it shipped there where there's no sales tax. Save another whatever your tax is. 8.5% here in SF.
