Post-Rock whores unite!!

All 3 of us.    I know there are a few others around here cause there was a thread on TOB about it.

Just thought I'd pass on a few bands that I just recently discovered. You may have already heard of them, but they're all new to me. Some of these definitely qualify more as post-metal. Most of these do have some vocals, ranging from none to cookie monster and everything in between.




Red Sparowes    ...I recommend all 3 releases, w/ my fav being the "Aphorisms" EP. Kinda upbeat and happy. Well, as much as post-rock can be upbeat and happy anyway.

North - "What You Were"    ...Very dark and heavy as balls. Prepare to have your face kicked in. Jarvicious, if you're reading this, you need to check these guys out. Methinks you'll dig 'em.

Moving Mountains - "Pneuma"   ...Damn good cd. Listened to in it's entirety 3 times at work today. Imagine Sunny Day Real Estate-meets-Boilermaker doing poppy post rock. The also have a new EP due out any day now that should be nothing less than stellar.

Giants   ...Again, another band that I would recommend getting both releases, "Old Stories" and "They, The Undeserving". Not too heavy, a little more on the melodic side compared to some of the others. Nothing ground-breaking, but just an all around good listen.

and finally,


Ocoai - "Breatherman"   ...These guys are local to me, although I don't know any of them. Just stumbled across them one day on myspace and decided to go see a show. Definitely one of the best live bands I've ever seen. They really cover the whole spectrum of emotion in their music, from whisper quiet to punching you right in the gunt. I would go as far as to say that they are probably one of the best bands in the entire post-rock genre. All IMHO, of course.
