Its snowing in Tacoma, WA... My duc has been stationed in my garage for the past two weeks and most likely for another month.  Do I need to do anything on my bike during this winter break?  I've read postings about putting up your bike for the winter but I assume that applies to bike hiberating for several months... would appreciate advices, suggestions, or directions... thanks.

Try moving this thread to Tech.  You can do it yourself, there should be an option at the bottom for you to move it.

I feel your pain.  I am up in Kent and the street I live on is completely covered with ice.  With more snow on the way this weekend, it looks like a long winter ahead of us...

There are two things that you should do.

1) Put some Sta-Bil in the tank and ride it a few miles after putting it in.  It doesn't really hurt anything if you keep riding, but if you stop riding for a long time, the fuel is protected from the problems that will occur with normal gas if you let it sit.

2) Get a Battery Tender and hook it up any time the bike has sat for a week or more.  You should have one of those anyway, and it will help the battery last longer.  Best of all, the battery will be in better condition to start the bike when it has sat for a while, which is always the most difficult time to start a Ducati.

There are more things you can do, but those two things will take care of most of the issues you'll have with letting a bike sit.

If you haven't read it in any other posts:  Don't turn the bike on and take it for a spin if you wont be riding it at least for a good 20 minutes.  That is about how long it takes for all the condensation be gone.

Yellowjacket, this thread was in the right forum section of "Tech". You might want to put it back there as this section is for technical problems related to the forum itself, not bikes.

I believe Ducpainter (or crazybastid, whatever his name is today  [laugh] ) moved it to Tech for you from the General forum the other day.

I did in fact move it...

and I've moved it again.

This is the right place.
