Not sure how many of you guys have dealt with valve guides on the 695s but they are certainly subject to the same oversized valve guides as many other Ducatis.  I had been working on mine at school (Wyotech, I'm in Euro Specialty now) when Bruce Meyers suggested I check the valve guides.  Sure enough every one of the valves had quite a bit of "wiggle room" in the guides.  Luckily I had one more month on the warranty so a few days ago I took it over to Melillimoto Ducati in Ocala, FL.  Got the call today that it was ready to rock!  They confirmed that all of the guides were out of spec and  the exhaust valve guides were WAY out of spec.  This is with only 5,000 miles so obviously they would have gotten ridiculously bad over time if we hadn't caught it.  Unfortunately I've got to go out of town (back home) for the holidays and won't be able to pick it up until new years...
Sucks cause its been really warm here lately

anyway, just something to keep in mind when your working on your bike

Yep, dealer noted that my guides were shot when they replaced the heads on my M695 for the melted paint issue at about 6k miles.  One of the two new replacement heads came with the "old style" guides so they changed them out for the "new and improved style" guides.  Head had to be sent to a machine shop for the guide swap.  Anyone know what makes the improved guides better?

I don't know for sure, but I've heard that they're just machined to the proper size to begin with.

the engineers designed the guides to be frozen and inserted in the heads.  They were supposed to expand back to the right size when thawed but for whatever reason they expand more than they're supposed to.
