I want to start working on my R1.  I'm tired of just seeing it sitting there.  It's such a great bike and I think it's time to put some $$ into it and make it even better.  I need to find someone who can color match the tank to the new plastics that I want.  maybe even match the graffics.  Any input would be nice.  Oh, I know the paint scheme isn't "year" appropriate....  Just really like it.

Any comments or suggestions are really appreciated.  waytogo

The guy that painted Lyndy's M600 does outstanding work at a very fair price.  However, I can't give a recommendation on his ablity to color match.  He might be able to if you take a part in.  We were asking for a color match to the 848 pear white and he couldn't do it (but we didn't have a part to take him to show him).  With a part in hand, he might have a way to do it in his shop.  Otherwise, he seems to go by what's readily available from manufacturer paint codes or pick from the bajillions of colors in his books.  PM me if you want any more info on the shop.

This is the same guy who painted the LYD, he matched the color very well.  He only painted the tank and the pressure plate, the rest of the parts came from around the world. (flyscreen - london, Front fender - alaska, seat cowl - canada, chin spoiler - monsterparts)  Most of you saw the LYD when it was done, it came out great!!

I've painted lots of stuff.
I don't care what the "paint code" says it is suposed to be...
paint changes color over time, sunlight exposure, what color primer it is shot over, how thick it is, etc.

It is always better just to have paint custom blended to match your parts.
It's cheap to do (about $45 per 1/2pint of concentrate -which blends to a pint of usable paint).

Just about every single time I've ordered paint by someones code # it isn't a perfect match.
