Is there really this many parts inside of a fuel injected monster tank?

I gotta weld my tank, have to take everything out first. Saw this in my manual. Is there really this much stuff in there? Or is it just one piece that comes out.

It looks worse in the picture then it really is.

Keep in mind that you may have to replace some rubber lines in there.

There is that much stuff.  It's not that bad to take out.  Once you start, it's not gonna take you that long.   Don't wear any clothes you aren't comfortable getting covered in gas.  And don't smoke while you're doing this (unles you have a video running and a friend nearby with an extinguisher.  We'd love to see that vid  ;D ).   All the pics are from Capo's Tutorial

1.  Undo fuel lines at base.
2.  Undo line to fuel sensor.
3.  Take tank off.
4.  Take off gas cap.  It's just a coupla allens.
5.  Now you gotta pop out the rest of the cap (pictured below).  Stick two fingers in there and pull hard (yes, that sounds dirty).
Note: there are 8 tiny 2mm allens in the side that you need take unscrew in order to get the cap off.

5a.  If it doesn't pop out, use something plastic and small to lift up the rubber gasket around the end.   This will leave you with a small ridge.
5b.  place tape around the edge of the hole.
5c.  use a screwdriver in the ridge to lever the cap out a bit.  Then tug hard on it with two fingers.  It should come out.
6.  Undo the hose clamps holding on the hoses.  You should see them through the hole.  (there may not be hose clamps on the OEM hoses.  I don't remember)
7. Pop the fuel filter out of its clamp.  You can do this with your hand.

8.  Reach way in (your hands might be too big for this, but try) and pop the fuel pump out of its clamp.  You may need to disconnect it from the sensor unit. I don't remember.

Voila.  You're done.

Actually, if we don't already have a How-To, do you mind taking some pics as you go through the process?  I'll be happy to do the write-up if you don't wanna do it, but pics would be great.

Edit:  I *thought* Capo had done something.  Here ya go:  http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=12274.0 .  We could still use pics as you go through the process.   ;)

It's actually real easy to do .Couple of tips.
Once you get the filler cap ring off, take out the pump and filter together (don't separate the filter).
This is a 'left hand' job ( ;D).
Pull on the pump until it comes free then lift it up out of the clip, if you pull it straight, you will drag the inlet filter screen thru the clip and possibly damage it.
Reverse this when re fitting. i.e. place the inlet end of the pump over the clip (with the fi;ter screen beyond the clip), lower it down through the clip then push the pump into the clip, take care to orient the power connector to the top. A little silicone spray on the rubber surrounding the pump helps.

There is a lot of 'voodo' concerning refitting the filler cap ring black gasket, but if you study how it is designed to work, again it's like real easy. Apply a liberal coating of silicon grease to it to help it seal.

Oh yeah replace the filter while your at it

I had to replace my fuel level sensor recently.  If you have big hands and popeye arms like I do... good luck to you, otherwise find yourself a teenager or a skinny friend.   ;D

I did it. But it took some doing getting that fuel filter out and back in.

Again  Goodluck to you
