I am thinking of picking up some rizoma grips for the 696, but I dont know which color to get.  I am leaning toward black, but red might look cool as well.  Silver might work, but probably not as much.  Here is a link:

http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=84

I am also planning on getting some bar end mirrors, and I saw a good set i liked on motowheels:

http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=853%7CMisc%2E%20Parts%3A%20Italian&productID=6419&showDetail=1&categoryID=858|Ducati%20Monster%20Misc&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts

Would there be any compatibilty problems with these grips and bar ends?  Is it difficult to change the grips and put in the bar ends?  I am used to changing grips on motocross bikes, which is pretty straighforward, but is there anything I should lookout for?  As far as putting on/taking off the clutch side handgrip, I assume it is a little different since its billet, and probably shouldn't use grip glue all over it?  Ay help is appreciated.

Good find on those grips...They look great... I think I'll put some black ones on my Dark 696.  I don't think there should be any problem with bar-end mirrors, as they are open ended grips, but I can't say I've every replaced grips before, so don't take my word for it Grin.

ive got those exact black grips on my black 2006 speed triple....
open-ended, no problem running bar-end mirrors...
im running crg blindsights on mine...
10 minute install, remove the old grips,
throttle one slides right on,
clutch side might take a little persuasion w a hammer and block of wood
depending on the diameter of your bar,
then just tighten the pinch clamps and call it a day....
and they look / feel great in person....
youll love 'em...

I recently fitted exactly those grips to my 696.......

A few things to note:
1) These grips are slightly shorter than the OE grips, leaving a gap of about 8mm between grips and bar-end weights.  Not a tidy look.  So you'll need to eliminate this gap somehow.  Some folk simply chop the bars down, I opted to file the locating pin off the alloy throttle casing so that it could then be mounted 8mm futher outboard and meet up with the grips. On the clutch side I retained the innermost flanged section of the OE grip to fill the void.

2) Fixing the new grip on the throttle side is easy coz you get the complete throttle assembly, just remove the OE and cable up your Rizoma (then do as above or some other measure to remove the resulting 8mm gap).  To fix the Rizoma grip on the clutch side I used a little clear silicone (the kind readily available from your hardware store) to both act as a grip glue and provide some anti-vibration membrane between your steel bars and your billet aluminium grip, then simply slide it on, thighten up the set screws and job's done.

3) I like my tapered Rizoma bar-ends but if you wanna fit bar-end mirrors then you'll want non-tapered items instead.

What colour is your 696 btw?

i went with the rizoma lux grips, rizoma reverse retro mirrors, and rizoma bar ends...

i have since cut the bars to remove the 3/4" gap you see here...
