To those that have powdercoated your 696 rear sets

I met a guy who is going to do some powdercoating on my bike. I want to do the rear sets black, but when he looked at them, he said it looked like they have some kind of coating already, which would have to be removed before powdercoating. Did you guys have them sanded down, or just powdercoat over the original finish?

yep, they have a coating, just get them bead blasted before powdercoating...
or you could sand em back, but that'll take a bit of time.

Local shop here automatically sandblasts parts before they powdercoat... ensures that they have a full bond to the parts. That said, they had a little trouble with my chrome headlight ring.
