I've tried the bacon-grilled-cheese idea (minus the hamburger patties). It's fantastic. Fry the bacon, drain some of the fat, then fry the grilled cheese with bacon inside in the bacon grease. And don't forget the butter. Lots of butter.

Are they eating cause it tastes good? When dealing with children, you realize their palates aren't used to all the subtle flavors. sometimes I find adults with immature palates.

They're used to the grease feel on their tongues, and if it's not fatty, they don't want it. (before you jump on me, we have a turkey fryer. we fry everything in the kitchen, not just turkey. but it's gotta tast good!!!)

they limit their palate to fat and sugar, and there's :

spices (mexican, italian, indian, lebanese, spanish, too many to try in one day)
herbs
food combos like salt/sweet, hot/sweet, meat/vegetable, creamy/tart
pungent cheeses
cured meats
dead ripe produce at the peak of flavor (tomato sandwich in the dead of summer!! yum! yum!)

what drives them to limit what they eat?
