Bike Down...(parking lot)

In a total of 5 years of riding I never had a bike down.  Today, I was making a VERY tight (steering lock) U-turn to get into a parking space that was facing the other way.  In the space next to my target a woman started backing up her brand new (temp tags) BMW 535 toward me.  I...for what ever reason...grab a little front brake STUPID STUPID STUPID.  I am going like 3 mph with complete steering lock....and baby goes down. [bang] [bang] [bang]

Learned.... U-turn and brakes = BAD.  If I had just kept going and parked as I had planned she would NOT have hit me...so I grabbed some brake for nothing.  TAKE THE EASY WAY...I could have parked in an easier to get to spot and avoided such a turn in the first place.

Damage...almost none [thumbsup]  a little rash on my new CRG rollaclick brake lever (bad BAD front brake...probably deserves it) which I fixed with a black Sharpy.

Emabarassing but not damaging to me or the bike so still not too bad a day of riding.   Better than being in a cage for sure! [cheeky]

That's about the only time when I use the rear brake... when I park or go slow and U turns.. the front brake will pull you down like a magnet! Sorry for the fall man!

Low damge is good.  Plus there is always something to learn from a drop. Glad you okay.

DEVO!

Happened to me once and I held her up! got under her just in time to save from touching the ground. While I was using my super strength to hold on everyone with in 3 blocks could hear me screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! while I am trying to keep from touching down.

Juan

Sorry to hear this.. Glad you are fine.

thats about the best way you can come out of that situation man. Good stuff. Funny how we forget the basics sometimes when focused on such a rediculous easy task.
About the same time you're dragging your knees through a series of tight left-right-handers on Sunday afternoon, some guy in white shoes is sweating a 3-foot putt. Go figure.
