Hello fellow Cap region folks. I used to drive a Suzuki (totaled in 05) and now it's time to get the bike I have always wanted. Hard to find good  (reasonably priced) ones in DC. I'm looking on Craigslist and one of the bikes I found is:  http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/mcy/1043667800.html

Is this far too much mileage?

Another:  http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/mcy/1046545628.html

Is this too weak?

And yet another: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/mcy/1043042000.html

I got no details in my reply so I don't know much about it.

Any help you all can provide, especially places I could find my "new" Duc (ideally a Dark), I am all ears. Thanks so much.

well...without seeing more pics and knowing more info...the last one looks like the best deal for sure and it looks like it might be an "S" model with an afermarket comfy seat!

welcome....

I'm kinda groovin' on the first one. Price looks right, anyway.
That said, I ride my 620 (I'm 6'2", 204lbs) and have no problems. I usually end up towards the front on group rides(It really ain't the dog in the fight!). ;D

Oh good call.  Bugs ad isn't on the Bikes for sale page (seems a bunch of listings have been wiped out?) But as noted, it's a nice M1000 with a bunch of tastey mods.

rgramjet is also selling his 99 Chromo 900.

- Chromos are rare so you are looking at premium price for that bike.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Don't be afraid of a few miles on a used bike.  If a bike has been properly maintained, the mileage will not be an issue.  I put 18K trouble-free miles on my first Monster before selling it a couple of years ago and it is still running strong keeping its new owner happy.  My Multistrada has 16k miles and has had no issues.  The 750 and 900 motors are bulletproof.  The 1000DS is also a great and durable engine, although some 03-06 bikes (Multistradas, Monsters, Supersports and Sport Classics) had valve guide issues.  Before buying a 1000DS, check to make sure that the bike has been checked for the issue and/or had the problem fixed.  Any bike that has had its routine services done at a decent dealership should have checked for and/or addressed this issue.  As with any used bike purchase, you should be looking for service records.

I am by no means a mega-mileage rider, but I do find it somewhat disappointing that so many Ducs never reach 10k miles.
