Side question. After looking closer at the picture I noticed that there is no notched spring post. On my '95 m900 there is a notched spring post to show where the marking on the pressure plate should go. Did the later models not have this notched post?

There is a mark somewhere.  Different manufacturers use different markings.  On the other hand, if yours is working fine, no need to worry.

Don't take the easy route of spacing the cover out until you check and make sure that center nut is tight.  Be safe rather than sorry.

Absolutely.  If the center nut is loose the results can be catastrophic.

You can't see the notch if the springs are installed.  With the springs off you have to look at the post with the notch then line it up with the mark on the pressure plate.

I think there is something else amiss besides the spacing though.  I have the DP open cover installed on mine and I am NOT using the spacer and I still have a 1/4" of space before anything hits.  You need to double check the clutch hub nut.

I pulled off the pressure plate and the hub nut is wired in position. There's no chance of it loosening.
Although I didn't check to see if it is actually torqued up. :-\

Make your own open cover.  Take a dremel or similar tool and cut out the front of the stock cover.  Then you can see what is going on.   ;)

Done.

I just have to paint it before I show it off to you all ;)

Or maybe he just works really quickly.   [laugh]

You know I thought about that too but I was like dam unless he had a chop saw sitting right beside the PC (or the PC right beside his chop saw) there really was not much of a chance he did it that fast.
