Bad rear wheel bearing?

Had my bike in for the 12k service and safety check....

Only thing replaced was the timing belts, valves good, every thing good.  I specifically asked if my chain was bad and the dealer said no it is good.  (They said it needed new tires...dry rot)

When i was riding to work it was hard to shift and upon down shifting if felt some weird stuff.  Got home checked the chain and it was WAY too loose.  I could not get it to adjust properly.  1/4 turn on the adjuster nut either direction and it would make it too loose or too tight.  So ordered the following kit:STEALTH 520 Conversion kit w/ D.I.D. 520ERV3 Race Chain - DUCATI
 Front Sprocket Size: 14
 Rear Sprocket Size: 39
 
The tech guy was awesome from Sprocket Center.

Anyways got the new sprockets on and new chain...same problem.  I put a straight edge in contact with the rear sprocket and gave it a spin.  The sprocket itself is moving forward and backwards.  Since it is a systematic or consistant in and out movement does that mean the wheel bearing are bad?

With the rear wheel off, stick one or two fingers into the bearing and rotate it.  You should be able to tell immediately if it is good or bad.  I had a throwout bearing fail on the clutch pressure plate and it was quite obvious that it was bad when I tried to rotate it.

You should also check that the sprocket carrier fits firmly into the wheel.
