Those things you should teach yourself to do automatically, like having a good look left and right before taking off at the lights, well it paid off tonight when a cager just went obliviously through the red light, saw him coming and lucky for him that in the lane next to me was a learner in a car that was slow to take off, could have been messy, the other guy shit himself half way through the intersection when he realised what he'd done though.
Still, had to come home, have a wee jameson's and question why I'm putting myself out there. Is it time to sell the duc and buy a camry?

Definately NOT !! 

The fact that you ride and have developed a superior roadcraft (Isnt hard to exceed the car driver level  ) ability and that along with your skills with your vehicle is what keeps you safe. 

It might seem like divine providence that kept you out of trouble but you must acknowledge the developed ability of the attentive motorcyclist to be situationally aware. 

You could sell the bike and buy said Camry and let the mental muscle atrophy to the point where you join the rest of the brain dead Bozos' blundering around relying on luck to keep their arses unscathed. 

Good job Brimo. Remember all, we make our own LUCK.

Now, onto the Jamiesons, a couple of things:
- there's no such thing as a wee jamiesons, well there should not be anyway
- there's no such thing as pouring one - you need to enjoy this fine drop in company - if you pour and find yourself alone, we'll then you've just looked after your best friend and poured them one as well

It's annoying how incompetent many drivers are. I have had many similar situations including one really scary near miss. In hindsight it has helped me develop my defensive riding skills.

As my old mentor used to say, "trust that feeling in your water". People seem to be the only animal that if it  senses something is wrong will still keep on moving in to danger, better to get your arse out of the situation than have it blown off.
We all have that so called sixth sense, it's just recognising and paying attention to it when it's trying to tell you something that takes a bit of learnin'.

That so called sixth sense is the "alive" person responding to the cues and clues that are there to be taken in. 

Riding in particular is a very sensory experience and we use senses that the average driver loses the use of.

Some mates that have been O/S in the Army say the same thing about being in potentially nasty situations, you learn REALLY quickly to respond to those senses.
