So, I bought one of them fancy lowering links for my wife's 620... lowered the bike and then lowered the forks too.... the bike is now so low that I have issues with speed bumps and pot holes.... argh.

She does fit the bike though... I think I might have to shave the seat instead... then raise her back up a bit....

Anybody have an idea on the minimum clearance?

Tough question - I have scraped hard parts on a stock height m1000 going over a small crest at the right angle at slow speeds. I don't think there is a right answer, depends on where you ride and what you want for a trade off.

YOu might look up posts by MangledBug and Industrialgrrrl. Both are not very tall, and have done a lot of custom work to their bikes. One of MangledBugs posts, (might be on TOB though) was a step by step on how to make a shaved down, gel seat

Remember to check the front tire at full compression to make sure it doesn't hit the engine or oil cooler. Easier to do now then when she does from high speed.

What is hitting is your exhaust -- two options: raise it via fabrication so it is closer to the engine and then ceramic coat the pipe to offset the heat factor. Or build a custom exhaust completely and route it down the left (or right) side of the engine ala my DesmoDevil series. My engine case / oil filter is where your exhaust is at now.

Also when lowering a bike, check for kickstand height (need shortened?) and cornering clearances (ie: leaned over) of kickstand (when up), footpegs and exhaust transitioning to exhaust cans (ie: part that sticks out). You will tend to get more "sparks" when leaned over cornering as you get lower.
