Okay, my bike was firing only from one cylinder and I barely made it to the mechanic the other day.  They raised my idle a tad, replaced the plugs and viola! Everything was TOTALLY PERFECT .  So I then got the custom map I've been waiting for so long to get (after the valves were done).  Everything perfect after I get the map so I ride the bike home and few days later THE SAME THING HAPPENED only getting power from one cylinder.  What causes a spark plug to "foul out"  and  if it happens repeatedly what is that a sign of????? I will replace the plugs and take it from there...but man, this sucks.

What bike and year?

Longshot, but my '03 800 lost a cylinder a while back.  It turned out my bike has adjustable cam timing from the factory and the adjustment screws all came loose.  The cam was flopping around and so the cam timing was way off and the cylinder wasn't getting any power.  You can ask your mechanic to check it.

No, no I don't think thats what it is.  I have an '06 S2R.  Actually I remember my mechanic commenting that he thought my spark plug had a thin film of water on it/was wet.  I thought about this for a while and I think I might have figured out the problem but who knows.

We recently got a new dryer installed in the garage and the "exhaust-tube thing" for the dryer doesn't exit the garage. Moreover, the ventilation isn't so good in the garage.   One of the first few times the dryer was being used I walked in the garage and saw that the S2R engine was covered in a film of water and I came to the conclusion that it was from the dryer exhaust tube thing which emits hot air so when its cold this causes condensation in the garage.  I told my old lady to let me know whenever she uses the dryer so I can crack the garage door open so the water vapor doesn't built up.  But, i didn't think the water vapor could work its way to my spark plugs!   Maybe through the exhaust is the only way I could think of... Going to get a new pair of plugs and see what happens.

Too many reasons.  Scott mentioned one.  Lack of compression in one cylinder, bad fuel injector, computer, carb, coil, ignition pick up, ignition module, ignition wire, oil fouling a plug or a vacuum leak are just a few.  You might want to start by pulling the plugs and seeing if one is fouled.

Howie

OK, since the bike is an '06 we can rule out carbs, ignition pick up and ignition modules.

Did you ever really figure out if the Power Commander was the issue?  It was running very fine when I test-rode it after disconnecting it from the bike ('06 S2R800 BTW).

PM me and we'll discuss.  Also, PM Speeddog as well...

Oh, and a dryer installed in a garage would have NOTHING to do with a spark plug being fouled, or wet those are other issues.

"water"... Anyone consider bad gas? There was a report up here in the NW a couple months back about something in bad gas causing moisture buildup in the tank... messed up a few cars.

How many tanks you gone through?
