Just wondering what this part is, what it does, if I can remove it, and how to remove it.  It's located on the left side under the side cover on a 2002 M620Dark.  Looking to remove the side covers and that canister would look pretty butt ugly.  Did a lot of electrical rewiring today and I don't want it done for nothing.  Thanks everyone!  Digital bacon for who ever helps!!!  [bacon]

May your head gasket develop premature failure, your carb get gummed up, and your side stand fall short.

Unless I'm mistaken, that would be one of your two ignition coils.  (The other's bolted to the left rear of your airbox.)  Probably not wise to remove it, but maybe it could be relocated.

as stated, you need that.

there is room to relocate that coil to the area just below the tank hinge if you are looking to clean things up, or remove the side panels.
