Ok, the OEM Bridgestones are squaring off with the A roads. want to take some longer trips but need a good tire that won't square off so fast but still give me twisty capabilities. for longer trips i'll be riding 2up.

I know there are a few of you that took big trips here through germany, what were your tires and what do you recommend.

This is different that stateside riding since 85-100mph is pretty normal riding on the Autobahn. and the Autobahn seem to be made of a very grippy material that chews up tires. I only have 3200km on the bike and already i see the flattening of the rear.

Yup, you will want sport touring tires, there is a thread in Tech going on now:

I've both driven and ridden on the Autobahn, it's not that different from certain US freeways, just that going those speeds is never legal here whereas it is some of the time on the Autobahn. Roll Eyes Evil Oh, and your drivers are much better too. waytogo

I don't know about that, I thought they had some tools there also.  Especially when I'm doing 150 and idiots doing 95 pull out in front of me.   Roll Eyes

where is the difference again? legal or not, 85- 100 is pretty darn common on highways here in the states

I have to agree. It's pretty rare that I'm on the bike on a freeway doing less than 85...

Isn't someone talking about "150" on an autobahn more likely to be talking kmh instead of mph too? (that'd be closer to 95mph)

You realize the eye roll was there for a reason right?  To imply sarcasm about the squidliness of the whole thing "I was doin one fity down I-85 an the popos was like damn I cant touch that sht"

hmmm well for certain some of the sections i'm hitting 160kph or 100mph and max was 190kph/118/mph yesterday on the bike. and getting passed at about 200/220kph. in old car i could do about 240kph. the new (old) cars only about 160/180kph cause an SUV even a sporty SUV is scary above 100mph.

speed limit is typically 130kph or 85 mph on 'restricted' autobahn. once you hit that. or worse the 100kph you feel like you are poking.

i have done about 160-170mph in a vette.
