Anyone using  Windows 7 RC? I want to know if there are settings for the things im having issues with before i write to Microsoft about it.

One of it is the power management system. It would be nice if you clicked on the battery and had 3 choices instead of two. Its either balanced or Power saver/ Balanced or High Power / Balanced or Custom. Its REALLY annoying as i swap between all three.

Another thing that would be nice would be carried over from vista, it tells you how long you have left on your battery if you continue using your computer the way it is.

Anyone know if I can change these things?

how about the gadgets, for some reason they are ALWAYS ON TOP. and the Always on top option isnt even checked!! i h ave to close and reload the gadget every singel freaking time its annoying as hell.

I don't hold stock in any of the RC editions as they are still tweaking/fixing stuff. It is irrelevant anyway as you cannot do a permanent install over an RC install, you will be forced to format and install the RTM clean....

as long as they fix these glitches i like windows 7. but i wouldnt use it with the glitches. they really annoying as make the beast with two backs. i can get the same thing from windows XP with a bit of tweaking.

The Vista x64 I'm running has been rock solid and everything works likes it should. the only thing I have discovered is the sidebar can develop memory leaks depending on the gadgets you add (specifically their coding quality). Honestly, besides a few dress-up items, some nuts and bolts stuff the avg joe won't even use or know is there, a change in the UAC setting and some domain GP additions ( and some local stuff), 7 looks, works and feels like vista, for what it's worth....

not the same case for me. i also had x64, it was solid for a while, but it began devloping some serious problems, especially the way i use my comp, which is about 13 programs open at the same time. with x64 Vista they all start crashing, and hanging since all the programs were 32bit. it got bogged down somewhere in the conversion from 32-64-32 to display. I hated it.

I still have x64 Vista on my laptop, i havent started it since i got windows7rc. thats how much i like it.

the big thing about vista was the first service pack. until it was on sp1 (now sp2 is out,  [thumbsup]) it was a trouble child....

I've been running it on one PC since it was released and haven't had any problems with it. So far things really look good.  [thumbsup]

I pre-order r7 and I am anxious.  Unfortunately, the computer I want to put it on also has Autocad 2005, so I think I need to update Acad also.
