With DiTR, DIMBY Redux, WCDIMBY and what ever else comes up during the year, how much beer would it take to get the flounders to set up an 'Events and Rallies" section so this stuff doesn't get lost as it falls off the first page?

Until we get the issues we have going on right now resolved I'm going to have to deny the request.

Otherwise it's not a bad idea.

Sounds similar to the Calendar section on the DML.  It was a ghost town.  Also, you're talking about adding yet another forum to the board.  At some point, too many forums becomes unwieldy.  Personally, I think the DMF is approaching that tipping point.

Mebbe it's better to just have an EVENTS/RALLIES sticky in General with links to  the threads for upcoming events?  Not that I think we need any more stickies in General.  As I posted in Board Suggestions, I think we should cut the stickies in General down to about two.

Nobody reads stickies it seems...or the news in the header for that matter.

I do agree that we have enough boards. If the event is important enough to people it doesn't drop off the first page.

I just didn't want to say NO   ;D

IMO, people tend read stickies when they are only one or two and they have a title that draws their attention (Please Read First) or is self-explanatory (Donations).  People don't read stickies when there are 12 of them.  If you put something in enough places (like stickied and the header), people will read it.

You coulda just said no.  Or better yet, delegate.  Have someone else tell him "NO!!!!"   [laugh]  I did like the "we'll look into that" response.  You shoulda gone into corp management, Nate.   ;D

several have asked and we happily oblige.   We don't go around creating threads and stickying them on our own, but certainly when a local forum asks it's no problem.
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Staying on the front page works if it a big enough event in a big enough Metro area.  Pittsburgh isn't big enough - along with most metro areas outside of NYC, LA/SF and Philly and cities like that. If I post an event in the General forum it will be off the front page in no time. So either I keep bumping it (which is annoying to everyone involved) or else I can only put it up a few days before the event which then no one can plan for it. If you put an "Events and Rallies" forum up that is events only I think it would help greatly. Most of the local forums are too small and even the locals ignore them. If we only look in our local forum then we won't know about events in other close by areas. It would be good to have one forum that all events go through so you have a better look in the "national" scene.  Bigger events that require more planning can get stickies. People can plan better for them.

I say that as the DMF is the best forum for us Duc owners having a dedicated events forum would be natural.
