My 696 is my first bike.  I've got about 1250 miles on it now.  Did the 600 mile check up.  I'm wondering if there's anything I should be doing about maintaining the chain.  Tension is good.  Do I need to clean it and re-lube it any time soon?  If so, how often?  Also what's the best method for doing it and what type of lube or wax should I get?  Thanks for the help!

Read you owner's manual for recommended lube intervals. On the old stuff they said to lube it every 300mi. For some of us that's at least once a week.  [roll] I try to lube/clean mine once a month but it's my primary and sees a fair number of miles.

You'll find hundreds of threads on what kind of lube to use so start reading.  ;)

Amlethae, DESMO is having their OIL Spill on April 26.  There may be a couple of spaces left for those who want to work on their bikes or space for those who want to watch, learn, socialize and eat Pizza.  If there is space left $12 gets you in.

I won't be there this year, but many knowledgeable folk will.
