I walked into my local moto shop and saw a bottle of Lucas oil stabilizer sitting next to the moto oil. Do people out there use this or is this store just loopy.

Since no one else has chimed in yet and I hate to see a thread languishing with a big 0 next to it, here's my unbiased opinion :)

The group hanging around the coffee pot or water cooler at any given time at Mobil, Amsoil, Redline, etc. know more about oil and additives than the whole Lucas company.   If there are additives that help oil performance you can be sure that the above referenced companies and others know about them and already have them in their oil.

As I recall Lucas oil - the oil, not the additive -  finished dead last in that widely circulated Amsoil oil test report, admittedly questionable since it was paid for by Amsoil.

Also,  a base oil can only handle so many additives and there is a point where too many additives, no matter how good they are, are counterproductive  because they displace the base oil.   The extreme case would be a liter container of additives that has a little bit of oil added to it.  Would not lubricate very well.

I don't use the Lucas stuff or any other additive, just Mobil 4T or Motul or another good quality bike oil.

In my opinion, the Lucas stuff is just another marketing scam and it's success is just evidence of how gullible we are.  A shop that sells it loses a lot of credibility in my mind.
