Hello everyone

I have a paint rub on my tank (M696) and I was wondering how I can fix it

It seems that the clear has rubbed off

Any suggestions???

turtle wax polishing compound is your first try. Available as most hardware stores. Use a microfiber cloth and buff out

If that doesnt work, use turtle wax rubbing compound (USE THIS SPARINGLY)

It doesnt look like your clear is rubbed off completely, just scuffed a little. used each sparingly and wipe clean before using something else.

My red 696 tanks skins are also scuffed from coming into contact with my leathers.....  it's an annoying blemish on an otherwise pristine bike....  I'm thinking about having the clear-coat reapplied and then putting something like tank-slappers on it......  Be nice to think it could be polished away, but I've carefully tried all kindsa "remedies" with little success.....  Never had a previous bike scuff up so fast as this.... then again never had a bike with plastic tank skins before either..... wonder if that's anything to do with it??

My '06 S2R was starting to show some definite clear coat swirling. I polished the swirls out and now use transparent static sheets cut to fit to prevent contact with the actual surface. They're cheap, stay put but remove as easily as lifting a corner and pulling them off.

It wasn't caused by my love of the bike but when I rode the bike with a regular jacket - something in my pocket caused it  [bang]

I hope i can fix it so I can put the DP tank protector on

I tried wax but no luck

Anyone else??
