OK I have a good idea , My S4 has the ducati immobiliser built into the speedo/tacho etc as well as the little box under the airfilter and i think another sensor by the headlight ...my idea is to take the immobiliser components out of the speedo/tacho and hide them under the tank in a suitable box and replace the speedo tacho with a nice Acewell unit.so the immobiliser is stilll in the ECU curcuit but the instuments are not crappy broken glassed units.

Do you think this is a feasable project , has any one done this ?

Good ... I will PM him to find out what he did .....my S4 clocks are still servicable but begining to crack etc and look manky .. so i am thinking ahead , I like the UK made ACEWELL units , I am a electronic tech so it seems a viable job and I dont want to waste money in the future on crummy Ducati clocks .

Could not find Stu profile to send PM ?   can someone help as this subject will eventually be of use to many folks if we can get the info into a Sticky.

I did it on an '03 M1000Si.e.  The bike had crashed but still ran despite the gauge cluster being completely knackered.  So, I carefully disassembled the entire cluster to remove the circuit board.  Put said board into a box under the tank and then began tapping wires to mount the MotoGadget gauge to the bike.

Pic of the finished product:

(never mind the disco-pimp helmet)

Feel free to PM me with questions.

Thanks Stew ... I also like the MotoGadget stuff (german Quality) but the UK made ACEWELL units are also nice . My plan is exactly the same as yours

did you have any wiring issues ?  i reckon that we can sort this so that lots of people can copy us and solve the crappy Ducati clock problem and save money in future.

Nope, no major wiring issues. .  [laugh]

The homemade box under the tank.

Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

Crowbar did a much simpler version at some point.  He just stuck the computer/guts of the gauge down in the air box and then ran a coupla wires out of it.  Lemme see if I can track down pics somwhere.

OK OK point taken......but not beyond the skill of a competant technician and it obviously worked.  well done

lets face it If it was made by Italiens it can be fixed by me.

A "How To" on the simplest version of this mod would be beyond fantastic.  I'd even pay for it.   [beer]
