I was there almost exactly 1 year before you. I work on the Sub Base in Groton, CT. I'll check to see if they have any here...

I ordered this one

It pumps up like the other one and the flow is tip adjustable. I think it'll work just as well.

Please for your own sake, and the sake of your seat, Tape off each side of the seat material near the seams when you are sharpie-ing them, This way you dont get marker on the seat.

What do you think it will do to the seat?

The red stitching is the reason I did get the seat...... oh and my testicles also demanded better treatment than the standard shiny plank offers  Grin.

For the most part I'm fine with the stock seat. Every once in awhile though, I swear that I'm gonna order the touring seat first thing when I get home. It's not that I don't like the red stitching. I'm just not sure I'll like it on my bike, and it's a little pricey to not be sure of. If the textile marker works out good, I'll get the seat and sport it for a week or so with the red until I decide whether or not I like it. I'd also like to see/feel one in person first.

You guys could think it over for a little while, and see what your options from Sargent and Corbin offer. Just an idea.

i have the white 696 and i love the low seat with the red stitching on mine. my bike has just enough red accents to make the red stitching on the seat look good. my bike says monster in red, has red on the termi sticker, has red on the marechesi rim stickers, has red on the itallian colors where it says 696, not to mention the kill switch and the brake light are red. anyway it goes good on the pearl white ones. i do see your concern since you have the black one. i would honestly take it to an upholstery shop and have them either put black or white stitching in there. it would look best with white stitching in my opinion...

How did it turn out? I just bought a used seat and I may need to be doing this.

Actually, the paint pen didn't flow well enough to soak into the threads. I've been using a sharpie as originally suggested and am on my 3rd pass. In the garage it looks black but as soon as I take it out into the sun you can see the red again. So, a couple more passes with the sharpie should cut down on the red significantly.

I'll take pics as soon as I'm done.
