I was on the Freeway to work this morning.  All of a sudden the bike got out of gear.  Tried to put back and made real bad grinding noise.  Slowed down a bit and upshifted and it bogged a little, then I down shifted and everything seemed to be fine.  Never had anything like that happen before.   Bike is not leaking anything and looks fine.  Has anyone had this happen before....

Thanks in advance...

Back on topic-
I've had the bike slip out of gear in second when accelerating hard, but it is very infrequent.  Dunno if it's clutch wear or if the gears / shifters / transmission gnomes are worn.  I've never had it hesitate to go back in, thought... sure you didn't panic and whack the shifter while the engine was still revving - usually good for a grinding noise or two...

BTW:
This forum is loaded with helpful mechanics, but they'll prolly need addt'l info to help with the diagnosis... model, year, displacement, any mods that might have been related to your new issue (type of clutch, etc...)

Good luck!

Likely causes of popping out of gear are:
     Internal transmission problem.
Incomplete engagement due to worn/ bent shift forks or shift linkage issues.
Incomplete engagement due to rider error.

This is not a clutch issue.

If popping out of gear is a rare occurrence, more than likely the cause is rider error.  If the bike is still under warranty, a trip to the dealer is a good idea.  Otherwise, ride on unless it gets worse.

Both of my ducati's have a little longer shift into 6th than the other gears occasionaly resulting in a false neutral.  You may have just not fully engauged the next gear, causing it to fall out.
