kinda frustrated here.... appreciate any help.

Been trouble shooting a tough starting 2003 m1000 (replaced the battery, cleaned the wires).  I really haven't gotten too far into this... but I gave her a test crank - and the wires going to the kickstand kill switch started smoking.

any ideas on why this would happen?

It looks like there's a wire from the ECU that goes to a plug on the left side.  This plug then connect to a wire that runs to the switch (about 1ft long).  The wires smoked just before the plug 8(

I've seen that on an M1k, and a 750SS.

Pretty sure it's caused by water inside the instruments.

That could definitely be the cause - speedo glass is cracked so there could be some moisture inside the gage cluster.  So new gage cluster.... looks like I'm gonna need to pull apart the wiring harness to check the damage.  Any other suggestions?!?!  Thx!
