Has anyone else tried to remove the tiny front fairing on their 1100 only to find exposed wires?  I've seen many 696's without the fairing and it looks complete...do they even come with the fairing?  I hate the tiny fairing so I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on an alternative.

did you get the gauge cluster cover from your dealer?  It came with the manuals, etc, along with a bag of screws to attach it to my 696.  Not sure how the 1100 are imported, but the 696 gets the plus option, which adds the fairing & seat cowling.  The back of the gauge cluster has to come off to put the fairing on.

I didn't get anything from the dealer.  Thanks for the info though, I'll call them this morning and find out wtf and let everyone know what I find out.

w7ck7d - I'm interested to see if we get the same answer from two different dealerships.

I'm told there is, in fact, a black cover that is supposed to come with the bike...the dealer just failed to pass it on.  I'm going to pick it up this weekend so I can rid myself of that "thing" on the front of my bike.

I just took off the fairing on my 696 while I was hanging out in the garage.  I've got wires as well.  Looks like I'll have to get the DP carbon cover.  I'm turning into a huge CF slut.  Grin
