datv, Michael Moore and I did a quick loop in Marin on Sunday -- over Tam, to Pt. Reyes, Lucas Valley and then through Larkspur and wound our way south back to 101. What an awesome day.

I haven't been a 'real' ride in about 6 months, so it was really good to get out there. The weather was perfect. I see that they've finished the work on the backside of Tam (yes, I know they did that months ago). But the road surface is really good. Having good asphalt on the backside will be a pleasure in the winter, when it's cold and wet. I was suprised at how few cars we encountered. Everyone appeared to be off at Bay to Breakers or on their bicycles. The roads were clear, we didn't see any cops, and didn't have to pass a lot of tourist cars. Yippie! Seeing as how it had been a while, I was concerned about being SUPER rusty, but the pace was moderate and very comfy (thanks, MM and datv). I'm pretty sure my chicken strips remain pristine.

That said, I did catch a false neutral heading into the sharp hairpin after the top of Tam that claims everyone's bike -- the one where you can see the ocean for the first time. Skeery.
BTW, remember that with all the bicycles out there, you're likely to meet a car across the DY mid-turn. They swing wide to avoid the bikes. Just keep it in mind.
